Whenever I think of the recently defined genre, “deep house”, my mind instantly jumps to Tchami, a French producer signed to Spinnin’ records. After seeing his amazing set at the Spring Awakening Music Festival, I was hooked on Tchami. I was impressed at how deep house, a genre which might seem calm and uninteresting, can be presented such as Tchami does, to create a powerful festival set. Producers like Skrillex and others have been incorporating certain deep music into their high energy performances with successful results. We have also seen artists such as Disclosure bring deep house to the mainstream, showing that people have developed a taste for such sounds. House music has been alive for decades now, yet it is a genre which is constantly acquiring appendages and expanding – deep house will be the future outlet through which house producers can innovate upon an already popular genre.
Tchami, coming off of what I would call his recent explosion, has released a new mix called “Confessions #1”. I’m assuming, because the mix is numbered, this could be the first of many from Tchami. As one of the more recently relevant deep house producers, this potential series of mixes could set the tone for a lot of up and coming producers looking to find their deeper selves.
