My friend sent me this track a few weeks ago, and I can’t stop listening to it:
Touched by What So Not is an awesome song on its own, but up-and-coming producers Slumberjack flip the song on its back in this awesome refix. I looked into the artists on soundcloud recently and was impressed with a lot of their tracks.
Their website describes Slumberjack as:
“noun; The combined production talents of narcolepsy-prone Fletcher Ehlers and Morgan Then, or “Jackie Chan” to his not-racist-but-kinda-racist friends.
After meeting at the 2012 Perth Dance Music Awards, both as previous winners of Western Australia’s Limelite DJ Competition (2011 and 2012), DJ/producer Fletcher Ehlers and classically trained instrumentalist/producer Morgan Then quickly bonded over a shared love of electronic music, which rapidly morphed into the bass-heavy, synth mutant we find now.
One year after launching Slumberjack, the young duo have released a slew of original records, including a collaboration with Sable and an eclectic, beatsy number with an industrial edge titled Felon. They’ve also remixed for the likes of DCUP, Airwolf, Goldroom and Triple J sensation Wave Racer.
With a sound that is uniquely their own in a cluttered Australian beat landscape, Slumberjack refuse to adhere to any particular scene, and have well and truly awoken something special on dancefloors around the country.”
Here’s another compelling bit of music by Slumberjack called “Sprinter”. Get a free download here:
