I was recently shown Arca by a friend of mine and was immediately hooked. Arca represents an almost intangible style of music, where soundscapes combine with distorted, experimental noises to create incredible music. Most people would probably be turned off by Arca – confused about what the music is supposed to be or mean. Obviously Arca, (along with other experimental trap artists like Hudson Mohawke and Lunice), was an excellent candidate to co-produce Kanye West’s most recent album, Yeezus. Arca’s raw, experimental sound can be heard throughout the album, helping maintain the dark, industrial vibe in the album.
